Good reasons to watch Stalker
This movie follows three men – a professor, a writer, and their guide – in the Zone: a no-go area enclosed by military defenses in a gray, derelict world; but if you find a Stalker, he might guide you to the Room, a place where all your desires will be immediately fulfilled. The only hitch: no one has ever come back and lived to tell it.
A bewitching, slow, tense, weird movie, Stalker is difficult to define. Most striking is Tarkovsky’s full control of the atmosphere: a forest of sounds, a deeply beautiful photography, a very slow but very dense tempo, the music of the Russian language…
If the magic works, you will believe in the possibility of the Room.
